What better day to talk about SPF than Sunday?

Let me start by saying, I was raised thinking that because I was brown, I didn’t need sunscreen.

Thankfully, that misconception has been dispelled. EVERYONE needs sunscreen and I now LOVE it. It’s arguably my favorite part of my AM routine. I love changing it up, I love testing different formulas, and I love talking about it lol.

here are the ones I’ve currently been rotating through, with some quick thoughts:

PETER THOMAS ROTH – Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen Lotion max sheer SPF 30

This is one of my top 3 favorite formulas. It is hydrating without being greasy, it sinks in quickly, and it leaves my skin looking and feeling plump and beautiful. No white cast on me!

PETER THOMAS ROTH – Water Drench Hyaluronic Hydrating Moisturizer SPF 45

SPF 45 is a tad bit more hydrating, but the issue I ran into was TASTING THE SUNSCREEN no matter how I applied it. I didn’t apply it on my lips but I swear it seeped in through my skin. For that reason, I’m out. lol, jk, but I don’t reach for it like my other ones. No white cast on me.

FIRST AID BEAUTY – Weightless Liquid Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 weightless mineral SPF 30

I went through the wringer with this one, lol. the first time I applied it, it was perfect. I didn’t even feel it, BUT my skin got insanely dry? legit dehydrated. the second time, I applied a little more, no dryness, but it felt super heavy and greasy. The third time, I applied it with a stipple brush, and it felt like a CC cream. It’s tinted so it provides a smidge of coverage, which is nice for my no makeup days. I read some people had issues with piling, I found it did best over heavier creams. No white cast!

Supergoop! – Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 glow screen SPF 40

I loved this the first time I applied it. then, when I realized I wasn’t applying the right amount for my face (1/4 teaspoon), I had to admit it felt pretty heavy and greasy :(. no white cast, but pretty shimmery for all over the face. Not my fave.

dear, klairs – Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++  soft airy essence SPF 50

This is also in the top 3 for sure.  It’s incredibly lightweight, the most protection, and zero white cast. It also dries down to the most beautiful satin finish. love love love this one.

SPF Rx – Ultra-Clear Daily Skin Hydrator SPF 50 ultra clear daily hydrator SPF 50

This is it, my favorite SPF. Well, one of three most favorite at least. I absolutely love what this does to my skin. My skin feels so firm, but not tight. Even when using the 3 finger method, this sinks in seamlessly. Plays perfectly with the rest of my routine, never experienced any white cast, piling, or tasting  (?) lol. it’s also mineral-based so I can’t imagine this formula could be any more perfect if it tried.
