Mineral Hyram Sunscreens

Formulated only with Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide. (Ps. Zinc Oxide is the sunscreen ingredient that Hyram likes the most and that’s why he strongly favours mineral sunscreens).

Pipette Mineral Sunscreen – SPF 50 Broad Spectrum Baby Sunblock with Non-Nano Zinc

A budget-friendly option ($20) that Hyram says has a minimal white cast and is not greasy or heavy. It also has a white cast rating of one.

It’s specifically formulated to be gentle enough for children’s delicate skin, while still providing robust SPF 50 protection. The non-nano zinc oxide formula ensures that the sunscreen sits on the skin’s surface to physically block sun rays, rather than being absorbed into the skin.

It’s perfect for those seeking hydration without heaviness. Although it has a slight white cast, it’s still a great option for most skin tones who are looking for a gentle and ethical product. Its mild formula is designed to be kind to the skin, making it suitable for those with sensitive skin types. As a vegan product, it aligns with cruelty-free and plant-based lifestyles. The non-nano formulation ensures that the sunscreen particles are not absorbed into the skin, but rather sit on the surface to provide effective sun protection.

Personal recommendation

I will throw in a personal favorite of mine here on top of Hyram’s sunscreens.

Multi-awarded face moisturizer face sunscreen provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection to help prevent effects of sun damage with peak efficacy against short UVA rays. Suitable for sensitive skin. Oxybenzone-free.

Hyram’s sunscreen recommendations from before

($30): fragrance-free, formulated with 17% Zinc Oxide with a matte and blurred finish.  This lightweight, “barely there” sunscreen has a matte finish and is perfect for wearing under or over makeup. It gives a nice blurring effect without the feeling of grease or heaviness.  Non-irritating and oil-free, this water-resistant sunscreen won’t clog pores. Suitable for kids 6 months and older.

NO white cast (you will barely notice any), perfect for darker skin tone.

($30): your skin could quickly absorb it and the ingredients are so great, which contain squalane and make it more like a moisturizer with sunscreen. For oily skin, you could use it as a moisturizer and sunscreen. NO white cast, perfect for darker skin tone.

Powerfully invisible broad-spectrum, mineral SPF 30 protects even the most sensitive skin like you’ve never seen-literally. This lightweight, deeply hydrating sheer sunscreen lotion blends in for all skin tones fast without leaving a trace. It calms and cools sun-stressed skin and leaves absolutely everyone with a soft, dewy finish.

($34): feel like a very lightweight tinted moisturizer without fragrance, leave with a matte powdery finish. A multitasker with SPF 30 protection that provides 12 hours of soothing hydration, imparts a natural, luminous finish, and reduces the look of visible imperfections.

($24): This Korean sunscreen feels like nothing and is quickly absorbed by the skin but with some fragrance.  This is a daily sun protector for sensitive skin that comes in a water gel formula to provide a light, soft and featherlight finish. High SPF and PA provide UVA/UVB protection without generating ANY greasiness or white cast.  As Hyram puts it, this is the lightest sunscreen he’s ever come across.

Krave The Beet Shield($20): great for dry skin, lightweight with a glossy finish. No fragrance.  This product has been discontinued.  We have written about what really happened to this product and the whole saga.

($16): fragrance-free with high-quality ingredients, but leave with some white cast.
