Let’s start with its ingredients.
The Bichup Self-Generating Anti-Aging Essence contains the signature Gongjinbidan Complex (comprises of 6 oriental herbs), which balances and improves Qi and blood circulation for good skin health.
On top of that, it has the top 3 ingredients that were the secrets of the ancient Korean palace. They say when you use the essence every day for more than 2 weeks, it will improve wrinkles, skin elasticity, skin strengthening, skin complexion, and brightening.
- Cho Jahabidan: a plant placenta derivative, which helps the skin activate the right cells for repair, inducing self-healing and leads to skin recovery.
- Gyeongoakbidan: a medicinal herbal formula that protects skin and delays premature aging which also helps in pore minimizing while keeping the skin moisturized.
- Cheongsimbidan: a medicinal herbal formula which was once used by the royal courts to boost skin detoxification, soothing skin troubles. Adds vitality to tired skin.
What a claim. I don’t know if I can believe one essence can solve all the skin problems including wrinkles, low elasticity, tired skin, and moisturize and everything.
Here’s what I think after using it.
The Essence
The color of the product is translucent yellow. You can see from the picture it is a little thick ~ and light yellow!
It’s shiny, moist and sticky.
Feeling on skin:
It feels quite liquidity, so it’s good. When I put it on the back of my hand, it goes on very smooth and clear. It’s almost like honey!
It has a scent to it. Because it is a product with its ancient South Korean theme, it has a smell that is not uncommon in many of the other Korean products~

I would call it light Korean and sweet flower fragrance blended together.
Texture
I squeezed a small amount of pea size on to the back of my hand. It does not drip down.
When I tilt my hand back, then it finally starts to move.
Looks super hydrating, and sticky.
But absorption is fast, and does not FEEL sticky once you spread it.
The texture you feel at your fingertips is moist and a bit rubbery.
People with oily skin who don’t usually like heavy products should try this. It gets absorbed super fast.
By looking at this you would’ve never guessed it. Although the texture seems gooey, but it does not feel sticky or heavy at all. It is really amazing.
Effect on the Face
After applying it on the skin, the face will feel hydrated and glossy for a while after.
It also feels wonderful the next day when you wake up.
The History of Whoo Bichup Self-Generating Anti-Aging essence vs other products:
Since it’s a contender for the top spot in the anti-aging essence category, I compared it to 2 other products!
- Lancôme Visionnaire – Advanced Skin Corrector
- Shiseido Bio Performance Super Corrective Serum
Shiseido has the best feeling of elasticity but it took more time to get absorbed. It feels like I just applied a protective coating on my face.
Lancome is similar to the History of Whoo, which has a more textured feel. How would I differentiate the Visionnaire? It feels like the Whoo self-generating essence minus the gooey feeling, I’m going to say ^ ^
Whoo is lighter than Shiseido, and thinner than Lancome. It gets absorbed the best into the skin.
All 3 are amazing products with little or no oil. If you have to pick one, maybe Lancome feels just a tad of oil and there’s absolutely no feeling of oiliness in Whoo or Shiseido.
Using is over a period of time
I used Whoo Self-generating essence twice a day, morning and evening, for 10 days.
I used it right after toner:- basically, after applying the Curel Sebum Trouble Care Lotion…
After Whoo, I may then use a face cream last if I felt I needed something more.
Cleansing → Trouble toner→ Whoo Anti-aging Essence → Face Cream
The essence absorbs quickly without stickiness, and the firm texture makes it feel tight on the outside of the skin!
After 30 minutes, I checked and my skin feels exactly the same as right after I applied it. The skin was always moisturized and firm with luster.
After 10 days of use, the skin tone was more even; and the wrinkles around my mouth were actually slightly lighter!
The skin has a feeling of elasticity. My large pores didn’t change much, but the smaller pores seemed a little smaller♪
I really felt changes in my skin after a 10-day period of use. I was able to feel that the elasticity of the skin has definitely changed!♥
It’s so good that I can even use it on oily skin~ It didn’t feel too thick and made my skin healthier.
It’s probably a waste for such a good product to be used for my age. But I will definitely give it to my mom ♥
