Understanding Parabens

Parabens are used in cosmetics as a preservative.  There has been some controversy in the scientific community about whether parabens cause cancer. Several studies have found traces of paraben in breast tumors and tissue, but other studies have not found any links.

Despite the safety record of parabens, a lot of people still want to avoid them. This is why we offer an icon that indicates a product is paraben-free. We support brands that have made the choice not to use these ingredients. If you are concerned about your cosmetics and skincare product’s safety, leave out the parabens. The choice is yours.
