Cat eye make up is such a classic style – from Cleopatra to fifties pin-up girls, right through to the present day, it’s a look that will always be in vogue.
But it’s a style that doesn’t stand still, and we’re really enjoying the interesting ways that the amazingly creative makeup artists out there have come up with to keep it looking fresh and new.

We’ve checked out some of the most popular cat eye makeup looks that are currently trending on Instagram to inspire you to try out this enchanting look in our featured image from IG@fentybeauty.
Red lips? Check. Winged eyeliner? Check. So far, so fifties. But this look modelled by @mxxine which was created by makeup artist @makeupby.kasey for Fenty Beauty looks anything but dated – we adore this bold cat eye with its sharp wing!
Another, very different take on the winged cat eye look from @saraontheinternet – with that quiffed hair, she’s channelling the rockabilly aesthetic while still looking totally contemporary. She calls it #simpleglam – and we have to agree, it’s simple, and it’s glam!
We love this quirky take on a cat eye created by @olgadann and shared by @makeup.hum – those white dots along the upper lash line give it a really fresh and up to date look.
This sensual cat eye look from @makeup.dapper looks positively feline! It looks so simple, but take a closer look and you’ll see that the eye line has been cleverly extended, and the outer wing looks like a shadow of those amazing lashes. Fabulous.
Now this is just gorgeous. Sharp, well defined black eyeliner for that all-important cat eye shape, softened with beautiful shimmering pink eye shadow. Paired with soft bushy brows and subtle glossy lips, this is a lovely romantic look for summer. And we really, really want those flower earrings!
This is ultra-glamorous! How cool is it that this look from @asciatou manages to be sharp, sparkly and soft all at the same time? That copper shade looks amazing with her liquid brown eyes, and again that little dab of sparkly highlighter in the corner of the eys really finishes off the whole look.
We hope you’ve enjoyed these fabulous feline looks as much as we have. So, it’s time to go and make up your cute little pussycat eyes…we look forward to seeing you out on the prowl!
