3 Best Serums for Hydration, Protection and Brightness

A few years ago (more like 15!) I felt blessed to have such good skin and didn’t use much skincare at all. Nowadays, I feel like my skin is dehydrated, dull, and starting to show premature signs of aging. Well, maybe not premature, considering my age, but it would still be good to keep them off for a little while longer. So, I had to come up with a plan that deals with multiple issues.

First, I wanted some brightness, because a youthful complexion always has that special natural glow. Then I needed hydration, and this doesn’t need any more explanation! And, then, I thought some antioxidant protection would be nice (and should help me prevent premature aging!).

Here is my choice of products:

For Hydration: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + b5

The hyaluronic acid has a liquid consistency and is easy to apply, I use my fingers for this. At first, I was using more than a few drops and it took a few minutes to get it all into the skin. But skin massage is good for blood circulation, so no complains from me. The skin feels plumper after about a few weeks of regular use – I use it both mornings and evenings. The cost is fair, so I will keep buying it and recommending it to other people too.

For Antioxidant Protection: The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%

This was a bit of a surprise in terms of how it feels when you apply it to the skin. It was my first time using these ingredients and I didn’t know how my skin will react. While I don’t usually develop allergies, I’m always paying attention when I use skincare products for the first time. This serum is a bit oily, but very fluid. The application is smooth, and it penetrates the skin quickly. It doesn’t leave behind an oily film on the skin, but it does trigger a tingling sensation and some heat. But no redness or irritation, so I guess the heat shows that it is just doing its job!

For More Brightness: The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

Well, this one took me a while to decide to buy it. I wanted vitamin C to correct my dull complexion, but I feared the side effects of using a highly concentrated product. So, after many weeks of deliberation, I went for this vitamin C derivate, which has been absolutely great for my skin. I love it and will get it again; it has done magic with my pigmentation spots. When I apply it, I follow up with SPF cream if it is during the day.
